5 Easy Steps to Draw, an Eye

Hello, fellows...!

In this post, I would love to share my simple and easy way to draw a realistic eye. As we know, some artists draw only the iris sometimes, but they draw it extremely perfect in its details. Here I share 5 easy steps how to draw it as simple as I could, so that we could learn together easily.

First, draw a big circle, then draw a smaller one exactly at the center. You can add a little effect just in case you want to give some dramatic expression. Block the center circle with black color. For my drawing, I used 6B pencil. Here is the result of my first step of drawing.

Next step, bold the outline of the iris. Give some gradation effect with the outer line is the darkest part. Then add some lines, draw them from the centre to the outer.

Now, hatch the iris from the outer circle straight to the center. Don't forget to always darken the outline.

Okay, next step we will add some colors for the iris. Here I add brown color because it’s the color of my eyes. Hehehe.... You may use other colors if you want to, like blue, green, or grey. In order to draw more realistic sketch, you have to use more than 2 pencil color. For this picture, I used brown, light brown, and grey pencil color. For the darker part, I simply used 6B pencil.

Last but not least, add some color to darken the drawing. For darker color, you may use 6B to 8B pencil. Draw it gently from the outside straight to the centre. After the outside is full, draw it from the centre. You will get the some straight line filling the iris randomly, but will give you more realistic effect.

And this one is the summary of all the steps that I had drawn. Let’s check it out!

So, what do you think? It’s very easy, isn’t it? Now, you try it yourself!  Hope you like it!

uL!eZha, in many styles of drawing

I finally decided to post my self portrait pencil sketches in manga/anime style. These pictures are made by me and 3 of my best friends. Let's check them out!

I actually made this to challenge myself whether I could draw my own character in manga style or not. I picked one of my photo, then drew it on my sketchbook using mechanic 2B pencil. Check the result below!

Here I also post my friends' sketches of me. They drew me as many different characters, which surprised me, but I knew they all love me so much. Okay, here we go!

The first one was made by Heru 'Helu-kun' Ocha.
He is my best friend who always sees me as a little girl.

I guess that's why he drew me as a school girl here.

Next one was made by my little brother, Zen 'Zenong' Hotaba aka Bobey Fong.
He was much younger than me, but he was so mature.

May be that's the reason he drew me as a sexy girl like this picture below, hohoho...

Last but not least, was made by Kaoru 'Shiin-chan' Shiin.
He made my anime character using digital art.
I still can't figure out what he wanted to show or say by drawing me as this sleeping beauty.
But I appreciated him so much for his work.

Okay, that's it for this post.
Hope you like it!

ARDA 3, A Parade of Famous Actress

Song Hye Kyo was the first actress whom I drew for practicing my skill. It was kinda exciting to draw her because she has very exotic oriental face. Besides, she is my most favorite Korean actress. Not so similiar, but I'm quite satisfied with the result.

Next one is Angelina Jolie. Yes, I agree that she is the hottest woman on the earth and also the most dedicated actress. She is my favorite, too. I enjoyed drawing her as her character was so strong and so powerful. I loved drawing the details, especially her sexy lips.

Okay, next one is Kate Winslet. She is one of my most favorite. I fell in love with her acting in her most epic movie titled 'Titanic' as Rose, paired with Jack (Leonardo Di Caprio). I would love to proudly show this as the most realistic drawing I have ever done. And this was also the most difficult one, because I had to show her expression as the way it was. But I love drawing the details. Her closed eyes, her thick eyelashes, her sensual lips. I would love to draw her over and over again....

And this one is Kajol, an actress from India. She is my favorite Hindi actress, and also my favorite Jodi along with Shahrukh Khan. They are the most perfect couple who always make great Bollywood movie, such as Kuch Kuch Hota hai, Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham, and My Name is Khan. It was kinda hard to draw her expression because I had to show her sadness through her empty eyes. But I had great time drawing the details.

Now, last but not least, Emma Watson. This one was made by request of my best friend. She loves Emma so much and when she saw my sketches on my facebook, she asked me to draw her. Well, as I never reject any challenge, so I drew her immediately. Not quite similiar, but she said it was okay. Hahaha...

ARDA 2, A Parade of Turkish Men

Ilker Gursoy, uL!eZha, 27062015
I have watched Turkish TV series titled ‘ELIF’ recently, and fallen in love with one of its character named Uncle Melih (Ilker Gusoy). I searched for his fanpages, photos, and even random articles.

When I found some interesting pictures of him, I immediately took my sketchbook and tried to draw him in realistic style. To be honest, this was my very first time drawing realistic style, and I drew it using some kind of ‘free style’ way, because I had not known about that ‘grid’ thing at that moment.

And these are the results. As you can see, there is so much distortion on my sketches, especially for the beard. I have to admit that details are truly my weakness, but I always to try improve my skill on it.

I also drew Uncle Selim (Emre Kivilcim). This one is the most difficult for me to draw. It also took the longest time to draw the details. And still, it does not look alike at all. Hahaha... But I am quite satisfied with the result.

When I published these sketches on my facebook for the first time, one of my friend asked me to draw another Turkish actor named Halit Ergenc. Honestly, I had never watched any of his film or TV series. I only knew that he was the King Suleyman at one of famous TV series titled ‘King Suleyman’.

So, I finally decided to take the challenge, and drew him on my sketchbook. And there above is the result. It actually was the most complicated to draw, especially the detail of his expression. His eagle eyes, his mysterious smile. But, this is it! Hope you like it!

ARDA 1, Self Portrait

uL!eZha, 13072015
When I first saw some pictures of realistic pencil sketches, there was one simple question crossed my mind.
"Can I draw like that too?"
Then I tried to draw one in many ways, from making rough sketches, outlines, and then the details. But there was too much distortion on the last result.
Then I remembered one of my best friend whose hobby is drawing, too. He usually makes images using a grid.
Yes, the boxes as proportion guideline for drawing. And I immediately tried using it .
I put some grid on my own photo (for first practice, I can be a little narcissistic, can’t I? Hehehe...), then I started drawing .
And the result? Walaaa...
Not look alike at all... !!!
But at least, I have tried to draw something without too much distortion compared to my previous sketches. And this is my first realistic drawing.
Hope you all like it.
